The Skywarn program is a collection of groups and individuals who volunteer their time to their communities by providing timely and accurate information to the National Weather Service. This information is used by the National Weather Service and the media to insure timely warnings for bad weather and other emergencies.

Central Carolina Skywarn - Chatham, Durham, Edgecombe, Franklin, Granville, Halifax, Harnett, Johnston, Lee, Nash, Orange, Person, Sampson, Vance, Wake, Warren, Wayne, and Wilson.
Metrolina Spotter Group - Alexander, Buncombe, Burke, Cabarrus, Caldwell, Catawba, Cleveland, Gaston, Haywood, Henderson, Iredell, Lincoln, Madison, McDowell, Mecklenburg, Mitchell, Polk, Rowan, Rutherford, Transylvania, Union, and Yancey.
ILM Skywarn - Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover, Pender, and Robeson.
Newport District Skywarn - Beaufort, Carteret, Craven, Dare, Duplin, Greene, Hyde, Jones, Lenoir, Onslow, Pamlico, Pitt, Tyrrell, and Washington.
Southwest Carolina Skywarn - Cherokee and Clay.
Triad Skywarn - Alamance, Caswell¹, Davidson, Forsyth, Guilford, Montgomery, Moore, Randolph, Rockingham¹, Stanly, Stokes¹, and Surry¹.
Wakefield Skywarn - Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Gates, Hertford, Pasquotank, and Perquimans.
NO SKYWARN GROUP - Anson, Avery, Cumberland, Davie, Graham, Hoke, Jackson, Macon, Northampton, Richmond, Scotland, and Swain.
¹ - Counties are shared between the Triad Skywarn and Blacksburg Skywarn.
